Lee J's Van... the story so far...

Postby Lee J » Thu Jan 12, 2006 12:38 pm

October 2005 - Bought 2001 LWB 350 tranny.

November 2005 - Ply partioned, fit lighting, fit 2 new seats from a DAF truck. Go here to see it.... http://www.fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2690

December 2005 - fit 2 speakers to the back seating area & fit rear step.

January 1st 2006 - head gasket has blown and not only has it bent the cylinder head but it's shot gunk (oil+water) into the turbo, the intercooler & the radiator so it's pretty poorly, happy new year!

January 8th 2006 - After a strip down at my local van garage they have said it needs a new engine - RIP.

January 9th 2006 - New engine found at a local salvage yard. Just taken out of a 51 plate tranny, is a runner, 2.4 DI with 90,000 miles, FSH. Cost - £850

January 12th 2006 - Van been transported to garage to start fitting new engine.
Transit Van - Gonna cost me a marriage if I'm not careful.

The temperature gauge hit the top and the van dropped power down to a crawl. Then it ran lumpy. I switched off and noticed I had no water in the radiator, I pulled the dipstick and there was me water - in me engine!

Latest installment...

21st Jan - went to check levels and radiator resovoir is full of oil.
24th Jan - Back in garage, apparently it's just what was left in the system from before so they flush it many times. Nice and clean now.
25th Jan - Glow plug light starts flashing while driving, runs brill but this light is annoying
