Mk6 "Gabby"

Postby sc_BK » Mon Sep 18, 2006 10:55 pm

OK well with my no. plate ending GBY my transit has been christened "Gabby".

Was my day off today so this morning I headed into work (god I'm sad) to buy a rake load of stuff for Gabby. Got back, sanded down the worst marks on the shelves and half bulkhead partition thingy, swept and vaccumed it all out then set about putting stain on the wood. Now as I'm a cheapskate instead of going for proper joinery wood stain I had bought a bucket of Ronseal Fencelife  After spending most of the day kneeling on the floor painting, I can now barely walk

Got all the shelves, partition and 2 coats for the floor done, the inside now looks a LOT better, all the wood is kinda evened out.

Before:

No after pics tonight as it's too wet and dark :P

Then I built a ramp, it's a kinda open ended trough, and it's just the right width for the bike tyres:

Hopefully tomorrow night I'll get started on scrubbing the whole van down

Aye the holes were in the metal floor, just had to get them drilled in the right places in the ply, which was easier said than done. (in the p*ssing rain aswell :x )

Tonight I got the bulkhead and shelves back in, and tidied up the silicone a bit

Also finished off the ramp with 300mm long cheq. plate top and bottom

Also took me new lights out the box and played about with them : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n8ncVWOmSQ

Looking good! Where did you get the chequer plate and the metal edging strip you can see in the last picture?

I`ve been having a nightmare trying to find either!

MrC
Some people are like slinkies- Not really good for anything, but somehow they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs :D

You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

B&Q sell the edging strip all different sizes. If you get really stuck then some fancy edging can be bought from these guys http://www.adamhall.co.uk you will have to do some searching but when fitted it will be a foot grip instead of the potential foot slip that the stuff from B&Q sells.

A link to some of the Adam Hall stuff (make a note of the section it is in so you can search for the other sizes)

Silicone is an acid and loves to eat metal and gaskets, which is why it has been banned buy many large rebuild companies!
