Lukes Mk4 swb low roof

Postby Luke » Sun Mar 12, 2006 6:52 pm

Well as ive just scrapped my mk3 i thought i'd better start a new thread for the mk4,
Image
bought for £75 it's a pritty tidy van could do with a couple of rear arches and 2 new front wings, but aside from that its fine. :D rear doors are good too - for a change
Unfortunatly its a petrol so thats coming out and the Di that i had in the mk3 is going in!!
the van is for me dad but i'll use it untill my mk1 is done - also stops me dad borrowing the mk1
first job is MOT ive allready got the failure sheet and just the handbrake cable and rear shocker mountings to do. ive allready done the welding - it took me longer to find it than it did to do it
while im messing ive got the towbar off the mk3 to fit to this one as a tranist aint a transit without a towbar!!!

In that case mine aint a Transit no-more

Took the tow bar off after a divvy customer caused £200 worth of damage not long after I bought the old gal.

No tow bar = Happy Rover

On the road by next weekend then Luke :?: :D

just the 3 transits now :D (and 2 escorts) but this one isnt much of a project its almost perfect

just been out in the drissle and fitted the towbar :( must be mad  but its nice to sit in the warm house in front of the computer again!!! :D

i really wanna fit the wellers to this van 8) - but they seem a bit wide for the sld due to the axle width on the mk4/5s - so mabe i'll have a go at jacking the slider out -cant be that difficult :?

im still on for the Di engine swap at the weekend :D weather permitting

Ya beat me to it (maybe not about the future bit). Is the pinto going begging (if it's a 2L)?

Couldnt agree more  im not normally a great fan of diesels but the Di is a great workhorse of an engine and thats what this van needs sod the noise and low power - we need torque, reliablity and half decent mpg
I have took the Di out of my mk1 and replaced it with a pinto soon to be replaced by something bigger and petrol powered!!! :D

the poor unloved pinto - i have 2 of them - prolly going to scrap :|

anyway back to this van!!! update had a good day today managed to get it running- sorted the union, eventually i swapped the complete tank, i tried to get the sender out buit it wouldnt budge so i thought sod it might aswell swap the entrie tank over!! aslo fitted the new exhaust i had with the donor van :D
the only snag was with the wiring loom - it clipped to the old loom no probs but wont start on the key - rolled down the hill and it bumps fine!! shouldnt be too difficult to sort out!!! roll on MOT time!! :D

well im after a v6 2.9 if i get one thats any good (full van) i'll stick one of the pintos in it and move it on  but if i get a v6 engine or one in a van thats goosed then pintos are of no use to me!!! :D
