Steering drop arm removal

Postby Luke » Tue Sep 19, 2006 9:39 pm

If you have ever tried to remove a steering box drop arm you'll know what a tw@t of a job it can be

After a short attempt at getting mine off :x i gave up and made one of these and it came off easy :!:

Image

the bolt is an M20 (30mm spanner) the gap is 50mm and the puller arms are 60mm wide 65mm long and the part which grips the arm is 15mm :D
the centre of the bolt is drilled to locate a ¼" ball bearing - which also helps locate to the drop arm shaft, and it also provides a posative pull :D

Heres an opportunity for club members to make / share those little tools that help make the job alot easier or are too damned expensive to buy for a one off job. Pay the postage there and back you can borrow it for the duration.. .. .. What say ya Luke? Workable?
