My new conversion

Postby burchy35 » Sun Sep 24, 2017 7:47 am

I bought my sport van new 6 years ago and couldn't bring myself to sell it, it's been such a great van. So what better than to get it converted to a camper.

Nice looking van. Did you have the roof fitted by a company? or do it yourself? If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost?

A local guy (js conversions) converted the van for me.
The cost of the roof was about 3.2k which he sent it away for. And he has made me some individual boards that I slide along to make a bed up there. Which is a great idea as in the day time I can slide them back and use it as storage for bedding ect unlike the vw version of one big board that hinges up.

I have 2 gas rings, sink, lots of lights, fridge, 2 way heater, double passenger seat that swivels and the front seats have been upholstered to match the rock and roll bed. But I was impressed at how he has fitted me a gas tank under the van which you fill up at the garage lpg pump. I have probably missed loads but these transits make fantastic campers.

Looks fantastic mate, Love the lifting roof.... but too expensive for my budget so I will be a hunchback lol, the missus can stand up to cook so all is well though :-)

Cheers,

I am very happy with it, I have just come back from a weekend away in it.

Your right about the roof, it is an expensive part but i am glad i stretched myself to pay for it.

Thanks,

Roy B

Just thought , you can put your solar on the roof and raise it and turn the van to face the sun for maximum efficiency from the panels :-)
