Connect 1.5tdci leak back woes

Postby KenJones » Wed Apr 03, 2024 9:15 am

Hi all.
I have a 2016 1.5tdci grand tourneo that recently developed a leak from the right hand injector where the leak off pipe connects. I replaced the seal with one from my seal kit and it went again within 20 mile or so. I then replaced the whole leak off pipework and it went again. It will not stay on and I cannot reproduce it with a local blast around the roads. It’s like pressure is building up from a blockage in the return to tank pipework somewhere and is forcing off the weakest/earliest point.
Or is there a non return valve fitted on this return to tank pipe anywhere that may be faulty?

I don’t think it’s excessive leakback from an injector as it starts and runs sweet as a nut.

Thanks for any help…I’m stumped.

here you go

Not much detail ! when you get to the right parts diagram so not much use

https://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l ... MzAzMDQ%3D

while i was looking though in google search ..it seems the pipes have a quick disconnect mechanism..these stop fuel flow when disconnected ..so if not pushed home properly ..they will be shut off.

think the disconnects are green in colour

Undone the connection and rejoined, took her out for a spin with heater on for Smells, connector popped off same injector by the smell of it at around 12 miles. It’s doing my head in…

my next move would be to take the fuel filler cap off and run like that ..if it does not happen you have a fuel breather, tank venting problem

return line - I'm not sure where it routes .. that diagram does not show that ..i would just trace it out and follow it all the way back to the tank ..undo and re-attach each and every one of the quick disconnects, there may be one , probably is one , above the tank.

link the rest of the fuel lines and tank. note you are looking at links called 1.5 only

think those diagrams are where an earlier model

anyway, i see no differences ..no extra devices -- meaning charcoal canisters fuel vapour system etc

here's the later.

https://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l ... MzEwMDE%3D

no mention of DOHC 1.5 diesel "double over head cam" only 1.5 single cams are to be found

important - is yours a DOHC diesel ?

not even sure if model in uk had DOHC

i know some of these engines where DOHC

sorry im confuced about this.!

The links were great Mark, thanks. I’m gonna work my way back as suggested. The first quick release is the 9d350 return to the pump which requires a few parts stripping to get to. I’m sure any blockage will be this side. Thanks for your help and have a great weekend.
