Horn sounds after locking van

Postby KSProperties » Fri Apr 05, 2024 4:52 pm

Hello me again. I've got an ex british gas mark 7 and whenever I lock the doors the horn sounds. Quote embarrassing.
Does anyone know how I can turn this off please

You can't turn it off...it's part of the factory alarm system....the horn beeps when locking because the system "thinks" one or more doors is still open. You may have one or more faulty lock mechanisms/assemblies or the wiring to them is poorly. Also check the three contact pins/pad on the side loading door, they sometimes become "mis-aligned".

Push the side door in while locking the van and see if it beeps when you do that. Might take a few attempts. If it doesn’t beep when doing that, you have an issue with the side door which is most common. Adjustment of the keeper can help pull the door in closer when it latches, which lets the pins contact the receiver and the van knows the door is properly shut.

I've checked and cleaned the contacts on the sliding door, I've checked that all doors are locked and it will still beep! at random.
I found it would do it if there was the slightest piece of trash in the runner for the sliding door or if say a tie down was touching it, weird.

But lately it would just do it at random and generally late at night and give everyone the shits.

I unplugged the horn. I will investigate further though.

Try klicking Unlock first with all the doors closed, then klick lock .
I had simlar issues, I found sometimes the system needs resetting.
It could be as said, poss dodgy locking mech

I'll try that. In my case it's random, but you can count on it sounding the horn if it's late at night or some old Doris is walking by at the shops etc.

Press unlock, wait for lights to flash then lock.

Works like a charm!
