Truck/Car stalling.

Postby Tragustauro » Tue Dec 26, 2023 11:39 pm

Hello.

By lack of knowledge I have apparently been posting my questions on the wrong forum. dang!

I am re posting some of my last experience and question here.

I apologize for the confusion.
______________________________:

..So again!..

Driving for approx 12-15 min today. (A whileback)

Car starts to cough and stall in the middle of traffic.

Luckily I could roll to the side.

Tried after 4 min break and the car starts and I can drive home no problem...!??

After replacing the petrol filter it seems to have improved the car. But apparently not enough!?

It did not died so abruptly like before. It was coughing a bit before it died.

And I was able to start it again a short time after, compare to before the replacement of the petrol filter.

So now my suspicion is the petrol pump not providing consistency.

Could it be?
_______________________________________-:

Since this experience I have been driving short trips and no problem so far.

The " stalling" seems to occur, after a longer drive.

Merry Christmas and happy new year to u all.

Thank you in advance.

Possibly fuel vapourising in the fuel lines?
I know this could be a problem with the pinto engine but not sure if the DOHC suffered the same?
Check the fuel lines are well clear of anything that gets hot.

If replacing the filter has helped it might be that it still has some restriction/blockage in the fuel supply, maybe try blowing all the fuel lines through and check the tank for clogged fuel pick up filter.

Hey.

Thank you for the feedback.
Yes I am going to blow/clean all the fuel lines. And I have plans also to replace the fuel pump inside the tank.

Thank you. All the best and Happy 2024!

Hey.

Out of curiosity.

This engine that is in my truck is with direct Fuel Injectors? Correct?

Since I´m still experiencing stalling once in a while could it be maybe I have Dirty Or Clogged Fuel Injectors perhaps?

Friday, driving for 40 minutes and no problems. Two trips

Sunday wanted to move the car to a different parking.

Made a u turn from the parked position. Start to roll out into the traffic. Immediately after giving a slight pressure to the "gas pedal" to drive. The car stalls and die right infront of everybody..

Dang!!.
Stepped out side and pushed the car approx 5 meters. Got inside the car contemplating for about 30 sek to 1 minute. Try to start the car and it turns on like nothing and I can drive to the other parking position.

So after changing the fuel filter it seems to be easier to restart than it was before changing the filter.
So now my suspicion is the injectors!.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry I have been having problems leaving a comment ?
The fuel pressure relief valve is on the injector rails, whereabouts in the world are you as some countries they are easy to find and in others very hard

Hello.

It could be what you are saying.

But I am actually starting to think it is a very simple thing.

It happen again last weekend.

It think I now know whats going on.

I am running on empty. Simple. Right?

The indicator showing the level of gas/Petrol is of the rail. Broken!

Or the "floater" in the tank is broken.

Once it is showing me a half a tank full. It is actually empty. So that is why (I think) it is stalling out on me.

So after getting this truck it has been happening 5 or 6 times now. And I´m getting the picture of what is going on.

So before I get to fix a new "floater" I need to refill it to full, once the indicator is reaching half.

I appreciate all the feedback you have provided.

Scandinavia.

All the best for now.

Close to a full tank and it stalled again, out of no where.

So my last assumption was wrong.

Is this what I am looking for?

Hey.

Ahh yes of course...

But apparently it is very hard to find any doc on the MK5-petrol.

I found this diagram.(MK3) Maybe it is this one looking similar? (Arrow)

That's also a Mk7 TDCi

I'm not sure why they're calling it a Mk3, as only the Mk7 has used that type of injector clamps

Hmm..

Anybody out there who has a picture or a drawing of the MK5 engine setup?

I am amazed how little info that is out there on the MK5 petrol.

Thnx.
