hi intransit - thats the charcoal / dark stuff

have a look back at page 1 of alans topic
his is much lighter,

use of two colours of carpet and the roof in white upvc
saves mine from being way too dark - just

Kev sending the spacers over, has given me the inspiration to complete painting and lacqurering of the rims over the weekend and I'm really pleased how they have turned out. I want to wrap them in some nice rubber, 185 on the front (no power steering) and 205 or 215's on the rear, but as everything its got to be on a budget. Then I found out that Ive got to use van rated tyres!!!! What the hell.... :evil:
Any sugestion on tyres to put on?

I was looking at tyres a while back, if you have the budget look at SUV tyres. Some of them will have the right load rating and you can choose any size and a number of makes/models...

they dont have to be van rated ie 'C' or 'LT' they just need to have a weight limit higher than the max axle load (or half of it) i think the axle loads will be on the step plate :D aslo some tyres have the weight on a Li (load index) number which relates to a weight but most have it in KG on them :D

wheels looking well btw 8) bout time these were on the van :wink: taking almost as long as me with me front alloys :lol:

alan your wheels look smart, i have been running on my wellers for 12+years on 2 different vans and have never used a commercial van tyre.i have carried loads of weight in both vehicles and have never had any probs with low profile tyres.i run 205/60 on the rear and 195/60 on the front :)

Still got to buy the anodised bolts as yet, just got to wait a couple of weeks before polishing the lacquer, yes they have scrubbed up well. Vans off the road until march, to get as many projects out of the way, just too many projects on the go at once.
The front bumper is an ongoing headache, as Im still looking for something to mount the fog/spots into and I now need another MK3 bumber that I can cut up to make the spoiler (if anyone has an old MK3 bumper they dont want) These fog/spots wher molded into a volvo bumper, but I just find them anywhere!

I still havent fitted the other side window and I want to fit a new internal roof lining with recessed panels with El wire around it. Then theres a matter of the bodywork and paint and to top it off I want new tyres :? which I probably carnt afford. Hell, who cares, Im enjoying myself :lol:

I'm perhaps not the best person to ask about tyres as I will always use comercial rated ones (i carry a lot of weight).

Well, here we are, all done... except those darn 122mm centre caps are just impossible to find. :cry: Just a matter of finding the right tyres at the right price... I may have to fit some cheap brand tyres to get it back on the road for the summer, just because of all the other jobs that need doing.
Anyway, here's the price breakdown and I didn’t much like it at the end:- Weller Modular rims £100, flapper disc £9.95 (will last another 20 rims yet), various preparation paper £3.98 (absolutely loads left over), Paint: (again some left over, 2 x filler spray £12.98, 4 x white primer £25.96, 4 x aluminium paint £27.45, 2x lacquer £12.98.) = £79.37, 80 x Blue anodised bolts from Tastynuts.com (M5x8mm) £36.43
Grand total £229.73 Ouch! How much would I have paid for some alloys? Plus I have some left over’s!
I could have paid someone to paint them for this price... Still really pleased how they have come out after quite some effort and set backs 8)

Now what’s left to do, oh yes number 43 front bumper and spots
number 42 internal roof with EL wire
number 41 remote central locking
number 40 reversing sensors
number 39 exhaust pipes
number 38 Electric windows
and list goes on and on and on...

They worked out expensive mainly cos you were ripped off with your paint products :shock:

Primer= £1.49 p/c
Aluminium paint = £2.49 p/c
laquer= £2.10 p/c

Ok so they are trade prices, but I guess you shop at Halfrauds?

BTW, got your post yesterday morning thanks :D

Halfruads it is :oops: , but my local store sells an unbranded chinese paint at £4.99 which I have had clogging problems before, plus they are 85ml less in the can. I did think about getting them painted, but I have really enjoyed myself out in the shed at all hours :lol:
