Running problems

Postby Jcvan » Wed Jan 24, 2024 4:49 pm

Good afternoon, I have a Ford Transit 2010, I have a problem that I just think the German garages haven’t got a clue what it is , this is my problem: I can drive some days and nothing happens and then standing at traffic lights the engine runs up and down or when I am on a long journey the engine gives me no power. This is a list of things I have had done so far 1 new injections 2 new diesel filter 3. new agr 4 new dpf 5 new starter motor. 6 new alternator labels checked from starter to alternator 7 new oil plus filter. Is there anybody that can help me please thanking you john

If you have replaced the injectors?

I would change the SCV (suction control valve) and the PRV (pressure relief valve)

These will require the computer to carry out a "learn" process once valves are replaced and also a pilot pressure and pump learn should be carried out as well.

As Airthies says, will be the SCV causing the "hunting idle". A set of learns often fixes it, failing that, replace the SCV and re run the learns. Poorly injectors will not cause a hunting idle.

How high does it rev?
Check clutch switch isn't activating the "anti stall" function
Which raises engine idle rpm when clutch is pressed anticipating load when pulling away

What fault codes are you getting
And what diagnostics software are you using?

2010 is Euro-4 and won't normally have a DPF....unless you have one of the rare Euro-4's which someone has asked for it when new, it was an "option" on the Euro-4's from ~2008 I believe.
