just a thought but I can't remember if mk7 has it. cylinder head temp sensor. I remember my mk6 had issues with one so I removed it and slung it on the bulkhead and it made a difference until I could get a new one.. worth looking to see if its plugged in and maybe remove it and try what I did.
thinking though mine was a 85ps one..

Crank sensor can cause poor starting on MK7 even if no fault codes shown

After all my pissing about I have definitely come to the conclusion these mk7 tramp vans are no good and we are doing the right thing sticking with our roughty tufty mk5 rust buckets.
