Axle stands?

Postby woodyandbuzz » Thu Apr 13, 2023 6:48 pm

Needing to jack up and get under the van to do some welding... I've got some 2 ton axle stands - are they strong enough for a mk6 jumbo?

Theoretically yes... but if you have to ask you clearly arn't entirely happy to use them and I wouldn't be either.

They probably have quite a small footprint and will be on max extension when working on a transit. Again theoretically ok - but when safety is at stake why work at the limit?

Personally I use 6 tonne axle stand like these. Far more stable and confidence inspiring

Never been a fan of axle stands what I use is some blocks made out of cut up wooden railway sleepers and then used smaller packing pieces on the top
