New Gearbox at 50 kilometres

Hey everyone, longtime lurker, longtime Ford owner. I have 2 16 seater minibuses, my one developed a noise last week and I sent to garage, seems like my gearbox is done. Just wondering how at such low miles? I certainly don’t drive it like a race car as it’s a tour van but wondered if contacting Ford would be worth my while? Has to be repaired regardless and I’m getting that started but I’ve never had a gearbox go in my life so very surprised.

If it’s under FORD warranty take it back to Ford if it’s new to you and used and you have only done 50 kms take it back to who you got it from m8

Bought new in 2017 so out of warranty unfortunately. I have a recon gearbox on order and even they commented how it’s low mileage.

There was possibly no oil in it?

I had a Ford back in the eighties which they forgot to put oil in the gearbox. Luckily, I found out myself before I did any long journeys
